Experience is past

Thursday, December 27th, 2007

Question: Holy Spirit, clarity would be wonderful on this Christmas Eve. I ask you to guide me on the best questions to ask and how to ask them. I ask for your guidance in all things now, as I only want to listen to you.

Holy Spirit: You are seeing denial in yourself and others and feeling judgment towards the denial, which you do not want to see. Let’s stop for a moment and look at your judgment and your hatred of that judgment, which stems from the fear of hatred of your Self.

Everything that you fear is not real, and this is a thought you want to hold in the mind. When you remember that it isn’t real, at least a little bit, you are able to look at your hatred with Me. When you are fully believing it, you cannot look at it with Me, for I am the perspective that tells you it isn’t true.

Deep within your mind there is a strong judgment against your Self, and this judgment has many echoes that you can hear. Each echo is the same, although they may seem different, but it is helpful to remember that all echoes are the same, for they are echoes of the same source.

One echo, which you often hear clearly, is fear, but fear is not always an echo that you notice. When you do not notice fear it is because it is disguised as something else, such as a judgment or a hate thought towards another. It is easier to hate another than it is to hate yourself, but even in the hating of the other there is pain. This pain is a blessing when you awaken to it, for the pain is telling you that you are doing what you do not want to do.

When you judge or hate another, you are repressing fear of judging Self. When you fear that you will judge, you have judged there is something bad to judge. So in the act of judging another, which seems to be a judgment away from Self, unbeknown to the conscious mind, a judgment of Self has been made.

Judgments against Self seem to be stored within the mind, only because they are not released. What is believed is held to and what is feared is kept through belief, so that the experience of judgment continues.

Judgment spawns judgment and judgment spawns fear, so that a trap of judgment seems to be created. But I say the trap seems to be created, because the Son of God is victim to nothing, and that includes not being victim to his own trap.

The light of awareness is the answer for the mind of the Son of God. And willing for awareness brings awareness, so the light is turned on through will.

I’ve told you before that the greatest error you make is judgment, and this is an error that continues to be made. In all that you do, you do with some error of judgment. It is time to look more closely at that.

What I ask you to do is to observe without judgment, and that includes observing your judgment from a place of non-judging. When you can watch everything you do without judgment, you are reversing the belief that judgment in the mind is deserved.

I would like you to will for seeing your judgments without judgment. This is a wonderful way to see. When you see that you are judging where you thought you were not, you will see why the mind is how it seems to be. When you see that the mind’s state is the effect of choices you have made and decided to believe, you can begin to choose differently and the activity of the mind will change.

Question: We would like to ask some specific questions. When the mind seems to be filled with thoughts that are oriented or directed toward not knowing thy Self, what is helpful for us to do?

Holy Spirit: Current thoughts, including current judgments, are the effect of thoughts that were previously accepted by the mind. By accepted, I mean heard and then believed. Because of a thought that was accepted, another thought has been delivered. In that way, the current thought is literally an echo from the past.

The mistake you make is believing that the thought you hear now comes from now, when that is not the case. The thought you hear now is an echo of the past. All thoughts come from choices that have been made before.

The power you have now is the power of perception, which can be called the power of choice or the decision to remember. Now you can look at the past and choose how to experience the past now. In making this choice you are accepting a version of the thought, and the version that you accept communicates your perception of reality.

All thoughts that come into your mind are based upon a perception you have requested to see. The creative part of your mind is always choosing its perception, so that perceiving is changing and not static.

Question: With this knowledge, what is most helpful to do?

Holy Spirit: Always remember you are looking at the past, but the power of perception is now. Rest in the knowledge of that power, and the mind directed by desire will know the perception it is directed to choose.

Question: Sometimes it seems that our energy is affected by the energy or perception of others, both seen and unseen. What helpful clarity can you share with us on this?

Holy Spirit: Perception is an individual decision.

Question: You began to provide an answer that referred to individual decision. I got stuck on the word individual and stopped the flow of your answer. What would you share with me now?

Holy Spirit: When we speak of perception, we must speak of perception. Within perception the choices you make seem to be individual. They are not, as you will see as your mind is arisen, but to deny your perception out of a judgment against Self isn’t helpful.

Question: Ok. Please continue with your answer.

Holy Spirit: Perception is an individual decision, and if you accept responsibility for this you will see that you are free. It is true that you are affected by one another, but only as an echo of the past. In the current moment you choose to be affected by the past or you see that you don’t have to.

It is helpful to imagine that you can control time. See yourself taking the current moment and slowing it down. When you think of the current moment as an instant it seems to be quickly gone, but when you slow the current moment to a timeframe that continues to stretch, the moment you have is never gone.

Now, in this endless moment that extends eternally, take the time to make the choice you’+ve come to make. In this endless moment is the choice easily made, because it is the desire of the Son of God.

Question: I’m feeling a summary would be helpful.

Holy Spirit: The summary is simply this:

Experience is past and that includes the thought you seem to think now, but remembrance of truth is seeing through that past to what is now. It is this seeing that changes all things. Whenever you remember, you let go of the past, and a new moment of experience can be given.

Be in gratitude

Friday, December 21st, 2007

Holy Spirit: Sitting in quiet gratitude is a useful practice. You do not need to know consciously what you are feeling gratitude for. Just being in gratitude is being in gratitude for Self for truth for reality. Let gratitude rest on you, and you rest in gratitude. Simply be with it. Conjure up no specific images. Think of nothing you are grateful for. Do not even think that you are being grateful for Self. For the thinking mind only conjures up images of reality, and images of are less than is.

When you are grateful without needing something to be grateful for, you are appreciating all that is as it is simply because it is. This is the highest of all forms of gratitude.

Enjoy gratitude today, and be at peace whenever you notice you are grateful. You are being in touch with your Self and loving your Self for the Self that is.

You give the gift that you asked Me to give

Monday, December 17th, 2007

Question: Holy Spirit, I am very, very grateful for everything you give to us, for how our mind is shifting and for how we are learning to see. What gift have you got for us this morning?

Answer: Your gratitude is a blessing. Be willing to rest in that. At times you may see a thought in your mind that asks you not to rest in joy, in peace, in contentment and in gratitude. It is happy for brief stops within these states of your mind, but it wants quickly to reinstate guilt and move on to a belief that you must work, work, work fix, fix, fix.

Be alert to the thoughts that want to reinstate guilt reinstate the belief that you are not good enough and that you must somehow be fixed. Remember the truth of who you are the truth of the flow that is the totality of you. And be willing to rest within the flow in a state of contentment, a state of joy, a state of peace and a state of gratitude.

As you rest within these states, remain gently and happily aware of the mind. You can watch the mind and be at peace too, because you can watch the mind as you rest, accept and trust that all is well. When a true upset comes upon you and by that I mean something that seems to truly upset you do not believe the thought that tells you that you have failed because you have lost your peace. In accepting your feelings of upset, your peace is anchored within. Do not deny how you feel, and you are at peace. Do not try to change what is by resisting it, and peace is the consistent anchor within your mind.

If you watch carefully the thought of guilt, you will soon learn to laugh at the silliness of the idea. For the thought of guilt is only a belief that has no foundation, and so it continues to search for one. When you are content and at peace, it will tell you that you are guilty for having that state of mind. When you have shifted into upset, the idea will come that you are guilty now for that.

Guilt is a shifting house built upon shifting sand. It has no foundation. But your truth is a rock, and it solidly supports you no matter where you go. Hold to your solid rock and you will know peace, even as the emotions seem to experience upset. Rest in trust of who you are, and you give the gift that today you asked Me to give.

You like having the body to blame

Monday, December 10th, 2007

Holy Spirit: It’s not true. The body is not the symbol of unworthiness, not in the way you mean it when you say it. When you say, The body is a symbol of unworthiness for me, you really mean, I feel unworthy because of my body. You still believe that if some things about your body were different, you’d be able to love yourself. You’d be able to be happy. You’d be loved and life would be grand.

This is the truth about the thought in your mind. Do not look away from this truth. To color it any differently is to hide it, and that is to continue to fool yourself into believing that you are what you are not.

The body is nothing. It seems to be the cause of extreme unworthiness, but that is only because you want it that way. The unworthiness that is housed within your mind is extreme beyond compare. You like having the body to blame, because you know the body is outside of you. If you can blame the body, you can avoid the belief that scares you the most. That is the belief that you are inherently and entirely unworthy, and there is nothing to blame and so nothing can be changed in order to change this fact.

The unworthiness that you feel is deeper than you’ve allowed yourself to face, because you have always projected that feeling onto something else. You aren’t willing to let go of your identity with that something else, because you believe that is how you save yourself.

You think the body is the cause. You will not give up the cause, because you also believe that if the body is not the cause, then the only cause can be that unworthiness is the inherent truth of you.

I ask you to be willing to look at this belief in your unworthiness without the anesthesia of projecting it onto a body. When you cannot blame the body, the pain of the unworthiness may go deeper than you know. Be willing to feel this pain in order to learn it is not real. It is only an experience of emotion, but behind the experience of emotion is a light that reminds you it isn’t true.

Invite the pain into your presence. You do not want to avoid it any more.

The bus analogy

Saturday, December 8th, 2007

Holy Spirit: Resting the mind is easier than you think, and you’ve given yourselves the perfect image for this practice. Imagine yourself on the bus. When you are not resting the mind, you are totally caught up in your thoughts as the driver of the bus. You react to each thought like the driver would react to the circumstances of traffic. You get angry at the guy who cuts you off. You stop and go with traffic signals. You are uneasy in fast, swerving traffic. You are afraid when you see a large dump truck coming right at you. Everything is a reaction and you seem to be victim to the traffic circumstances outside the bus.

Now, move back one seat. As you move back one seat, you become somewhat less interested in traffic circumstances. You may notice the red lights and green lights, but you do not feel a need to react to them. You simply notice they are there. But in the seat directly behind the driver, you may still react to the one who cuts off the bus or to the dump truck that is coming right at you.

Move back another seat. Notice that as you move back further, you are more detached from reaction. The one who cuts off the bus may be interesting to see now, but you may not have a reaction to the observing. The traffic signals are barely noticed, and the dump truck gets less of a reaction of fear.

To rest the mind is to move back from the thoughts. It is to watch them without believing them. It isn’t to stop them, just as riding in a bus does not stop traffic. Traffic continues, but the rider is less involved with it than the driver is. Become less involved with your thoughts by observing them without interacting (reacting or believing) with them.

Moving back in the bus is not something you can force yourself to do, so do not even try. If you are in the driver’s seat, that’s where you are. Do not judge yourself for being there. Just notice where you are and will for moving back in the bus. Each time you will for moving back in the bus, you increase your willingness more to be less involved with the traffic of your thoughts. It is through willing for that moving back is accomplished. Of course, willing for moving back is the same as willing for awareness, because the driver is never truly aware. He is too involved in reacting and attempting control to rest within awareness of what is happening in traffic. This is the same as saying he cannot see the forest for the trees. He misses the whole by being too caught up in artificial parts.

Question: My thinking mind is arguing with the analogy of the bus. It argues that as I move back in the bus, I am less aware. The driver is in the seat of most awareness.

Answer: The driver is in the seat of most involvement, but most involvement is not most awareness. The traffic outside the bus is illusion. When the driver is involved with the traffic, he does not know it isn’t there. As you move further back in the bus and become less involved, you clearly become more aware because now you are seeing that the false isn’t true.

The decision to be the Holy Spirit

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

Holy Spirit: The decision to be the Holy Spirit is the decision to let go of the personality. The decision to be the Holy Spirit is the decision to walk in the world but be only of mind. The decision to be the Holy Spirit is the decision to be only that which is helpful to awakening and to decide to let anything else, anything that is not helpful, go.

The decision to be the Holy Spirit is the decision to let go of the personality. This decision is not magical. It is only a recognition of who you are and what you want.

Who are you? You are love.

What is it that you want? You desire only to know your Self, which also means that you do not want to think yourself to be that which you are not.

Thinking is your greatest obstacle to knowing, because thinking is an obstacle that thinks it is knowing. That is like saying the personality is the greatest obstacle to knowing your Self, because you think you are the personality.

As long as you choose the obstacles, you choose to block the truth. If you are ready to know only the truth, you must also be willing to say goodbye to the obstacles.

This is a readiness you are acquiring, and it is growing in you each day. There is a fear in the mind about letting go, because the mind tells itself that it does not know where it will fall when it lets go. But if you look carefully within your Heart within your knowing you do know where you will fall. You will fall into your Self, which is not falling at all. You will just be, and you will be in joy and confidence and knowing.

There is nothing to fear in choosing to be your Self. Look carefully now at all of the fears that are rattling through the mind. Notice how little those fears are to you how much they do not matter when you compare them to the vision of you being as the knowledge of you.

Look. Notice. Feel for your Heart. Through this simple practice you notice, and therefore you teach, that you are more ready to let go of the unimportant than your fears would have you believe. Teach yourself that you are ready by looking carefully and noticing this is true.

Observe the doing

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

Holy Spirit: Believing you are the personality is the same as believing you are wrong, because believing you are the personality is believing you are not what you are, and that is the belief you have judged as wrong. As long as you believe you are the personality, you also believe you are not the one who has made this choice. If you do not see yourself as the one who has made the choice, you also do not see that you are the one who has judged the choice. If you do not see that you have judged the choice, you do not see that you can reverse your judgment, so the judgment continues inherent within the choice not to see.

Everything is linked. It is all a part of one idea. I cannot lead you to let go of one part and allow you to keep another, because not to let go of one part is to keep the whole. You cannot keep the idea of personality as your identity and let go of the idea of wrong. You cannot let go of the idea of personality and hold to belief in the world. It is all a part of the same idea, which teaches you that you are wrong. And it is the idea that you are wrong that leads you to suffer and be unhappy.

Unhappiness is suffering. This is because you were not made to be unhappy, so unhappiness is the opposite of your nature. It is the experience that is different than the experience of Heaven, but the key point in all of this is that it is an experience. The entire world, the idea of personality, the suffering and the fear is all nothing but an experience you deemed to have. And if you can deem to have it, you can deem not to have it anymore.

I have asked you to will for awareness. I’ve asked you to will for awareness of the motive of your thoughts. I’ve asked you to will for being aware of clarity. Now I ask you to will for being aware of not being in control.

The belief that you are in control comes from the belief that you are a separate personality. But as you become increasingly aware that you are not in control that there is an automatic doing that moves through you you loosen your hold on the idea that you could be independent.

Don’t do anything to try to let go of this idea. Don’t do anything to try to see that your actions are automatic. If you do anything you will not learn, because you will think it came from your doing. Let go of your doing which is really only your thinking about that which you do and will for awareness of your living. As you become aware from the seat of an observer that isn’t doing, you see that the doing happens without your control. In this, your eyes are opened to that which is doing the doing, and you see you are not a personality, but you are a part of that glorious Whole.

Not true, only belief

Saturday, December 1st, 2007

Question: In order to feel my feelings (e.g., guilt) instead of cutting them, I cannot fear them. The problem is that I fear them because I still think they define me. I think they are true about who I am. How can I let go of this perception?

Answer: Letting go of this perception comes from the mind, since the belief that holds to the perception is in the mind. This is why I have been teaching you that cause is not in the world or in anything that you experience. Cause is only belief in the mind, and belief in nothing is nothing but belief.

To change your perception, look at this belief of wrongness and say, This is only belief. Call it by its name:

Not true, only belief

Be consistent and repetitive in this. That which isn’t true is coming into your mind now to be seen. This is a good thing, a great thing. Look right at it in full confidence of who you are, full trust and knowing. Don’t trust your eyes or your thinking mind. Trust only your Heart, which knows. With knowing, look at your beliefs and say, Not true, only belief.
