Question: Holy Spirit, you know our questions. What would you share with us today?
Answer: I have been talking to you about letting go of the personality, and you have given your willingness to do this. For this, I am grateful. I am grateful because I see that you have decided to listen to the whisper of your truth. I know this is your truest desire. I am grateful to you for listening to your Self.
Now the real work begins, for you have made a commitment and this commitment was not made lightly. It was made in seriousness through the true desire of the heart. Once such a commitment has been made it cannot be taken back, because you shall not truly desire that it be taken back. Your mind is made up. For this, I am grateful.
Now you must begin to look at every idea that teaches you that you are what you are not. Many of these ideas are sly and tricky, and they will continue to fool you for a time. But they will not fool you forever because you are the true Son of God. Where you have given your willingness, experience must follow.
You want to talk about the thoughts you are afraid to see and the feelings you continue to deny. I see there is some confusion about what is right or wrong to do with these thoughts and feelings as you begin to look at them. I also see there is fear you will continue to deny against your will.
I ask you first to step back and remember that you are master. This will not be difficult to do, because you have accepted this as true. And if you are master, then every experience must come from you. This includes the experience of being confused about what to do.
Confusion is a veil over the power of light, just as fear is a veil that hides the light from you. Sometimes confusion seems strong. This is because the power of light is strong. Realizing this is helpful, but it seems to fall short of your goal when you feel you need to know what to do. I ask you to look closely now at why you feel you need to know what to do. If you look closely with Me, you will see that your desire to know comes from a belief that you could decide wrongly or that you could be right. And you want to be right, because to be wrong is to be the sinful Son of God.
If you look at this slowly in the mind with Me, you will see this belief goes very deep. You will feel the strong grip it seems to have on your chest and in your heart. You believe very deeply that you could be wrong, and in this belief, you are afraid to move.
Stop here, looking directly at your fear. Forget for a moment the particular decision that needs to be made. Look only at the belief that needs to be let go. With the problem forgotten and the belief clearly in view, what do you know is best for you to do now? You do know. It is best to step away from the problem of form and take time to look solely at the mind.
When you step away to look solely at the mind, there will be a lot to see. Your role is to look at it, and to look at it with Me. There will be temptations to judge. Watch those temptations pass by. You will want to think and feel confusion. Notice what you want, and let it pass by. You will want to fix things and change things and know again what to do. You are noticing the thinking that goes on in the mind.
Yesterday I asked you to be grateful for awareness. Awareness comes from watching with Me. As you are aware of the patterns of thinking, you awaken to the habitual doing you used to do. As you awaken to this doing and the patterns that have driven you, you will lose interest in listening to patterns that come only from habit. You will become interested in becoming more consciously aware. This desire for awareness will bring knowledge into your mind, because as you discard the habits that blocked knowledge, knowledge is naturally known. In this knowledge, you will also know what to do. It will come naturally and without thought, as if it is a part of a flow. And this, of course, is being in touch with your Self at a higher level, because you have become open to know.
Cutting thoughts and feelings, or denying them too quickly, is a reaction of fear. Again, this can be looked at slowly with Me. When you cut what you are thinking, you are judging that you are wrong. So let’s step away from the idea that has been cut, and look directly at the thought that led to the action of cutting.
Can you imagine cutting without the feeling of guilt? Can you deny a thought or feeling and not see yourself as wrong? Can you celebrate the choice to cut another thought or deny another feeling? As you choose to enjoy that which scares you now, you choose to act from a different belief in the mind. You choose to act from innocence and freedom instead of a belief in guilt and rules. Acting from innocence and freedom will lead to a change in habits, simply because you will become more aware. You will become aware of habits. You will see that the false isn’t true. And you will become aware of your power as you see that everything comes from you.
Celebrate awareness. Be grateful for it. You are the amazing Son of God, and your true desire is leading your choices now. As you become truly aware of the old choices you have made, you will relinquish the old habits and choose through a lens of newness now. The lens of newness is the lens of awakening. It is the lens of knowing that the truth has always been true.
Question: After looking at our minds and the seeming reason for cutting thoughts, we feel that we sometimes cut thoughts because of fear of miscreation. We worry that our thoughts will lead to our own suffering. What will you share with us on this?
Answer: Cutting thoughts out of fear does not prevent miscreation. Miscreation, which is merely an experience you don’t really want to have, comes from believing the false is true. When you cut a thought out of fear, you are believing that you are victim of your own thought. This is believing the false as true. When you know that you are not victim, you can just as easily look at the same thought and brush it aside with a chuckle.
Question: How does this fit with your suggestion that we cut thoughts without feeling guilty?
Answer: It fits perfectly well when you look at the root and what is occurring in the mind beyond the level of action.
When you cut a thought out of fear, the root of that action is judgment and the belief in guilt. It may seem to be fear of being victim, but the idea that you are victim comes from the idea of guilt. You cannot separate the idea of victim from the idea of guilt. When you see victim, realize you are looking at guilt.
Victim, as I have told you before, is a carefully crafted experience to teach you that you are what you are not. It teaches you that you are victim so you can believe you are not responsible, and you want to believe you are not responsible because you are afraid of your guilt. You are afraid of what you will do to you, because of your own judgment against yourself. This is the idea at the root of miscreation. This is the insane idea that teaches that you are victim to your Self.
When you feel this fear, know you are believing that these false ideas are true. The way to be free of fear and the seeming effects of fear is to let go of the false ideas.
Just as cutting a thought can come from fear, cutting a thought can come from the knowledge there is nothing to fear. You can cut a thought and know the thought itself is meaningless. It is the power of light that carries all meaning, and that meaning comes from you. When you see a thought and cut it, knowing there will be no repercussions for the choice you have made, there will be none because the foundation of your thought has changed.
Likewise, you can look at a thought out of guilt as if you would be wrong not to look at it. Looking at a thought with Me comes from the desire to see that you are free. When you are not believing you are free, you are not looking with Me.
Question: Is there anything else you would share now?
Answer: Yes. We are looking at motives. Motives are the source of all things vibrationally. Each idea is the manifestation of its source. If you really want to change your experience, you must be willing to change the source.
The place to keep your mind, your attention, your awareness, is on the moment called now. Now creates all experience. To miss now is to sleep through the moment of creation.
Now is a moment of motive. Look at your purpose. Why are you doing what you are doing, whether that be a seeming action in the world or an action of thought in the mind? Notice the motive that drives the current response. This is an awareness I ask you to cultivate. Through cultivating this awareness, combined with your true desire to know thy Self as you are, choices will change. And through that, all else changes naturally.
Question: Can you give us tips on how to keep our awareness with now?
Answer: Yes. You start by willing for keeping your attention with now. And then let yourself feel gratitude for your willing for. Also, and this is very important, feel gratitude for yourself whenever you remember to focus your awareness on now.
The steps are simple. All of the steps are always simple. It is a matter of focusing your will where you truly want to be.
I remind you that when you fear you cannot do this, you are resisting your true will now and missing it because you are projecting it into the future.
Take a deep breath. Notice your resistance now. Feel it. Accept it. Let it be. And at the same time, trust that you will will for and feel gratitude for awareness. Will for awareness now. Feel gratitude for the fact that you just remembered to will for according to your true will.
Your resistance is strong, so continue to repeat this process. Continue to notice and accept your resistance now. Continue to will for awareness, which is a symbol of trusting yourself. And continue to have gratitude for willing for now.
