Two messages make one

Saturday, March 24th, 2007

Here are two messages that are the same. They are writtien in completely different words, but the core thought, the core content of the message, is exactly the same. Through seeing sameness in seemingly different messages, we begin to see beyond the words to a message that is wholly consistent.

1. All metaphysical discussion is profitless unless it causes us to seek within the Self for the true reality. All controversies about creation, the nature of the universe, evolution, the purpose of God, etc., are useless. They are not conducive to our true happiness. People try to find out about things which are outside of them before they try to find out “Who am I?” Only by the latter means can happiness be gained.

~ Sri Ramana Maharshi

2. You are a being made in God’s image through the process of creation that is God. In this way, you are the same as He. The process that you are is what you are. It is your truth. It is how you live and exist.

What you do through your mind is made and created, not alone, but in conjunction, through oneness, with your brothers. The process that you are, in conjunction with your brothers, is a process meant for joy….

~ NTI Ephesians

How are these two messages the same? They point to the same core truth. They point to who we are in truth and how who we are affects our experience, or our present awareness of being.

A Course in Miracles tells us that God’s Will for us is perfect happiness. That’s our Will for us too. Whenever we do anything, including murder another person, it is because at some level we believe that action will ultimately bring us some kind of happiness. However, if we murder someone for happiness, or maybe take a more common action like trying to manipulate someone into doing things our way, we are forgetting what we are and we are forgetting how what we are affects our awareness of being (our experience).

The Holy Spirit’s interpretation of Ephesians teaches that we are the process of creation that is God. This means that what we do with our mind makes our awareness of being (or experience). It doesn’t mean that we are actually creating ourselves, because we aren’t. We are what we are, and that is the creative process that is God. That will never change. But we experience ourselves based on the thoughts we accept into our mind.

Let me paint a picture with words. One person makes a spiritual statement that I perceive as wrong. It goes against everything I’ve been learning, and I believe I am right. I don’t like seeing this statement posted on an internet board, where it could mislead others. I need to comment. So, I comment. The other person doesn’t like my comment and comes back with his own. Others don’t like the comments they are seeing and join in. Opinions are flying everywhere. I vacillate in my mind between pride (for my last intelligent post) and a deep feeling of unworthiness (when I read some of the criticism about my post).

What’s really happening here? My brothers and I are seeming to conflict. We are sharing thoughts of separateness, attack, defense, and unworthiness on the flow of mind that is the process of creation, which is what we are. In other words, we are making our own experience, which is an experience we don’t want, because our Will is Happiness. We want one thing, but we are actively creating a different experience. This is why we are told that the ego is madness. It is madness to want to go north, but to continully keep turning south, and yet that is what we do.

Ah-h-h-h-h-h!

Ok, the good news is that once we begin to realize what we are and how we make experience (or awareness of being), we can begin to make different choices. If we understand that we are the process of creation that is God, and we realize that our true Will is happiness, we can begin to make choices that are in harmony with our Self. Let me paint another picture.

Someone makes a post that I disagree with. I notice the lack of peace coming over my mind. I choose to stop right there and remember that lack of peace is not what I want. I notice the thoughts within my mind that are creating my current experience of lack of peace. I choose to let those thoughts go instead of following them into more of what I don’t want. (I choose to turn and go north instead of continuing south). I simply rest the mind and let the thoughts that I don’t want fade from the mind while I remember my true Will and what I am and how my true Will is experienced through what I am. I remember that I experience perfect happiness by being perfect love in all situations.

I am you

From the Holy Spirit, through NTI 2 Thessalonians, Chapter 1:

This is the lesson I have come to teach today and the lesson that I ask you to open your mind fully to accept and learn:

I am your Heart,
because I am you.

This Voice that you know as a reverberation of your heart is the Voice of your Truth. When I say, “It is I” I also mean, “It is you.”

I have told you that I will teach you to see differently. Now, I will teach you how.

I will teach you to see the world that you see differently,
by teaching you to see yourself through new eyes.

I have told you that you see the world through the filter of your mind. This filter, through which you see, is your own judgment and belief about you. As this filter is changed, all that you see is changed, because the lens through which you see is made new.

The secret to awakening is to awaken to You.

Give willingness to lay your judgments aside

Monday, March 12th, 2007

When you look at the world, remember that you are looking through the filter of your mind. When you find yourself reacting to the world you see, remember that you are only reacting to the thoughts in your mind. This will provide the opportunity to see the thoughts that you think.

As you watch the world through the filter of your mind, you will think you see many things. Some will seem good, heart-warming, funny, happy and desirable. Others will seem frightening, horrible, wrong, disgusting and undesirable. And there will seem to be a sliding scale of good and bad and every thought that is in-between.

Now, remember again that you are looking through the filter of your mind, which means that the concepts of good and bad must be thought there. Surely, you will see that these thoughts are yours; you are the proud owner of the judgments you have made. Recognizing that you own your judgments is important, for if you are the owner, or the believer of what you think, then you can also decide to choose again and allow yourself to think differently.

At first, you may not see why you should want to change some of the judgments you have made. So I ask this of you: Remember that judgment is like a knife that separates the Son of God. This means that as long as you hold onto your judgment as something that has value, you are blind to the beauty and value of the sight of the Son of God.

And now, with that thought in your mind, can you give your willingness to lay your judgments aside, whatever they may seem to be? If you can find but a bit of willingness to see the Son of God and not to judge, that is enough. If each time you notice your judgments, you give your willingness in whatever measure it may seem to be, that is enough again. I bless you with My gratitude each time you give Me but the smallest measure of your willingness, for each small measure is useful to Me in the healing of your mind. ~NTI Luke Ch 13, v 1 – 8

How do I see my blind spots?

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Hello Friends,

In order to heal my mind, I need to be able to:

1. See/recognize that which needs healing, and

2. Release it for healing.

Joseph Luft and Harry Ingham’s Johari Window teaches that we have blind spots and unknown areas of self. If some areas of self are blind or unknown to us, how do we discover/recognize them, so we can release them for healing?

A Course in Miracles (ACIM) teaches that our brother is our savior. He is our savior, because he is the reflection of our mind. Anything that I see in my brother that is an annoyance (or fearful) to me, points to a blind spot or unknown area within my own mind that needs healing.

The Holy Spirit’s Interpretation of the New Testament (NTI) teaches detachment from and observation of the body as a means of discovering blind spots or unknown areas of self. If I watch the (my) body, what do I find it talking about? Is it talking about specific others and annoyances a lot? Is it discussing health issues a lot? Is it focused on sorrows within the world?

ACIM and NTI give us two different ways of discovering our blind spots and unknown areas:

1. Observe when I am annoyed (or fearful) by what I perceive as my brother’s sins/faults/weaknesses. (ACIM Chapter 19.IV.D.i, pargraphs 12 & 13, page 422)

2. Observe “my” body’s words and actions to discover where I place my faith and belief. (NTI Colossians 4)

If we observe with honesty and with healing as our purpose, we will discover our blind spots and unknown areas. We will discover them, because they are not hidden. We are looking away from them through our own willingness not to see them. When we are willing to see them through observation, they will be known to us.

With Love,

Regina
