Expressing gratitude through symbols

Wednesday, November 29th, 2006

Question: What are our creations? How can I be conscious of these gifts so I can always be grateful for them?

Answer: Creations are the extension of your Love. This is nothing you can touch, because it exists not in form. Yet you can see its reflection in form, if you choose to look for it. Creations are reflected in simple things like the opening of a blossom, a blue sky or a light spring rain. These things are not creations in themselves, but they are the reflection of creation, because they are the reflection of the simple and natural Love that extends as you.

To feel grateful for creations, feel grateful for that which is around you that is natural and loving, like a blade of grass. That is the image of your creations, which is natural and loving, independent of your thinking mind and a natural expression of your truth.

By expressing gratitude for the simple images of love around you . . . those that seem absent of personality . . . you express gratitude for a reflection of your truth. That truth, which you express gratitude for, is you, the essence of your Creator and the ongoing reality of your creations.

Desire is the power that drives all choices

Monday, November 27th, 2006

Hello Friends,

Often, I ask a question of the Holy Spirit because I feel guided to ask that question. You can usually tell when I do that, because I ask the Holy Spirit, “What do you want to share about . . .?” It’s wonderful to learn from the Holy Spirit when even the questions are guided!

When writing with the Holy Spirit, I sometimes judge as I write. It’s kind of funny, if you think about it. Who am I to judge the Holy Spirit? But, I seem to do it anyway. This morning, the Holy Spirit used the subtle judgments that I was making as a teaching example. The Holy Spirit used my judgments to show us how we subtly cling to the world and deny our true Self. It’s a perfect teaching example.

It’s funny as we look within and find how much we cling to this world. We even cling to the world by judging words that are used in communication. (ha ha)

Now, we can be more alert to our defenses and choose to make another choice.

With Love,

Regina

Question:  A Course in Miracles says, “The world you see must be denied, for sight of it is costing you a different kind of vision.” (Text 13.VII.2) What do you want to share about this thought?

Answer: Denying the world you see is difficult for you, because you want so much to believe in it. This is why you must resist temptation to easily succumb to the world and all of its worldly whims. Each time you are swept up into it, you hold onto it a little more.

Let me explain what I mean by these words. I see your temptation to judge them.

The first word you felt tempted to judge was “resist.” You said to yourself, “But I am not to resist anything. I am to allow everything.” Let Me correct this error in your mind.

You are not to believe everything. This is why I say you are to deny the world. If you believe a certain person is attacking you, you fear the attack or outcome of the attack, and you resist the attack out of fear. In this, you are not allowing. You are trying to control, because you believe events must play out your way for you to be safe and happy. This emphasizes the belief in lack and separation within the mind. It isn’t helpful to you.

However, if you see the opportunity to perceive attack, and you “resist” by remembering you can choose differently, you are denying the world and its seeming reality. You are allowing events to be as they are by realizing that as they are is meaningless. In this way, you are instantly released from the perception of attack and free to respond to guidance that is not mottled by lack of clarity.

Denying the world you see is very difficult for you, because you want so much to believe in it. This is why you must resist temptation to succumb to the world and all of its worldly whims. Each time you are swept up into it, you hold onto it a little more.”

You did not like the word “succumb,” because you aren’t certain of its meaning, and you hate writing words when you are unsure of their meaning. This comes to you from your doubt and fear of God. You feel safer when you maintain the control of knowing, and you are terrified to resist the desire to control. But, this is a perfect example of what I am teaching you now. In feeling you need to control a word, you are choosing the world as your reality and protection. You do this also in choosing to defend yourself against attack or fear. Each time you try to make yourself safe through attempted control in the world, you are succumbing to the whims of the world by believing you are separate and abandoned. This is not helpful to you.

You must resist temptation to succumb to the world’s wish for separation by staying firmly in touch with your desire to know only truth. As you let the whims of the world pass you by by letting its thoughts pass by unclung to, you choose to deny the world and its seeming reality. In doing this, you choose to stop seeing as you have seen, and you make room, through invitation, for another way of seeing to enter.

You didn’t like this last statement, because it implied you could make a mistake, and I have taught you that mistakes are impossible. You want Me to be consistent. I am always consistent. When you are unaware of My consistency, you are not listening to Me.

You cannot make a mistake, because you are free and you cannot change your reality. If you choose to cling to the world, that is not a mistake, because it is your choice. In that way, it is perfect. But you will not know happiness if you make this choice. You are at peace and deep within the heart of joy when you are in harmony with your Self. You are in harmony with your Self when you choose in accordance with your one true desire, to know thy Self.

If you choose to accept the world, you choose to deny your Self. This cannot make you happy, because this is disharmony within. When you choose to resist the world by denying its reality, you ask to know thy Self. This is a request for Love made upon the reality of Love. Love cannot say no to a request for Love. In choosing to deny the world, you choose to know thy Self. In this choice, there is happiness.

Denying the world you see is very difficult for you, unless you focus upon your one true purpose (healing). In focusing on Purpose, which is driven by desire, that which seemed difficult becomes simpler, because desire is the power that drives all choices.

Meeting our brother where he is

Sunday, November 26th, 2006

Question: Holy Spirit, what would you have us know about meeting someone where they are?

Answer: You must remove the beam from your eye before you can remove the tiny speck from your brother’s eye. Know that if you do not see your brother as wholly perfect and complete in this moment, you are looking at your brother through the beam in your own eye. First, bring your beam to Me, and ask for help removing it from your eye. When you see only perfection around you, you meet your brother where he is and you may be helpful to him.

If you are not yet healed, you can be used for healing, but this usefulness does not come from you or your perception of the problem. I ask you to remember that there is no problem, even if you do not see it that way. In remembering there is no problem, you step back from the desire to fix what isn’t there. As you step back, one who does see clearly can come through you to provide the help that is most useful now.

As helpfulness comes through you, it rises up from a place that is not the problem-solving thinking mind. It rises up from a place that sees no problem. And yet, the words spoken (or the action taken) will speak to one who believes a problem exists. Trust these words (or the action) without judging what has been said (or done). Remember that you do not know what is best, and so you cannot judge the answer as it is given through you.

Listen to an answer as it is given through you. Remember that the answer is always given to you also. In this way, you focus on removing the beam from your own eye, that one day you may see the perfection that is and always is as it is now.

More questions about: Is attack possible?

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

A friend shared some questions with me about yesterday’s message from the Holy Spirit regarding attack. I am sharing a portion of her email and the Holy Spirit’s answer to her concerns. I trust this will be helpful to many.

>Dear Regina,

>I find this so difficult, to comprehend when I see extreme expressions of [attack] in the world

>It happened to me, once again with “judgment”, but perceived in a different form with the messages that are shared on some forums.

>Even though I understand that words, concepts, and beliefs are the impetus for much of the hurt in the world,  . . . nobody “died” from the words that concerned me

>There were brutal and incomprehensible acts against 5 people in Iraq, which is now in civil war because of religious differences, among other reasons. . . . Regardless, there is no way that the way in which those people were killed could ever be “right.”

>This is only a sub-set of other atrocities that are happening . . . genocide in Africa.  The people that suffered and suffer from these heinous acts experienced and experience them as real, as do most of us.  What is an “illusion”?

>How can we ask if attack is possible?  It’s happening, right before our very eyes.  I can’t look away and tell myself that it’s an illusion when people are inflicting pain on others, and others are experiencing it as real. . . . Many people are losing their lives

>How can I look at these atrocities with love and acceptance and with “non-judgment”?  They’re brutal and heinous “attacks” against other people.  How can it be anything but “wrong”?  Even if I can at least count to 100 long enough now to know that I’m judging, or try to forgive them because ”they know not what they do” … they still did it and are still doing it.  There is “no judgment”, that’s what happened and is still happening.  So I need to ask you the same question that I did before: Does the world look that much different when we are awake, or do we just not see these things anymore?

Answer: The world is a brutal, vicious place as you experience it. I don’t ask you to deny that. I ask you to look at the world’s viciousness and then ask yourself, “Does this make me happy?” If it does not, and if you are willing to see differently, I can lead you to another way of seeing, because there is another way of seeing everything that you see now.

You may ask, “How can I see brutal killing as anything other than cruel?” The answer is that you must be willing to see that you are wrong about what you think you look upon. You are completely and one hundred percent wrong about what you see. If you can give Me even a hair of willingness to see that this is true, I can lead you so that you will see it. But, I cannot lead you without your willingness. If you insist that the way you see is the only way to see, I cannot provide the miracle of showing you that you are wrong.

Within your experience, My leading you to see differently may seem to take time. How much time is up to you. The more willingness you give to see that you are wrong, the “faster” you will begin to see. This all comes to you based on your willingness.

I must tell you that there is nothing wrong with how you see now. You need to know this, because the feeling of guilt leads you to cling to how you see. You are perfectly innocent in this moment. I ask you to trust Me on this fact.

You ask if the world looks different when you are awake or if the awakened one simply doesn’t see atrocities any more. As long as you walk in the world, the body’s eyes will show you what the body’s eyes see, but you will have a completely different understanding about what you see. This will enable you to be most helpful, because you will not be confused, and you will know what to do in any given situation.

For now, I ask you to continue to take the little steps you are taking now, for these little steps are much, much bigger than your realize. Continue to notice that you are judging and be completely willing to see that you are wrong. Follow your inner intuition on the path of spiritual seeking. I will lead you on the path that is best for you. Give Me your trust and your patience, and give trust and patience to yourself and your world. In this way, you will be led to discover the answers that you seek, and your gratitude will be unending.

Is attack possible?

Friday, November 24th, 2006

Question: Is attack possible?

Answer: No, attack is not possible, because all thought is shared. Each one receives as he has asked to receive through his thought. Therefore, no one is ever attacked, and only his request is answered.

Within perception, attack is a misperception of your experience. It is a misperception of what you believe you are doing and a misperception of that which you experience as being done. It is always misperception and never fact.

I ask you to let go of attack thoughts, not because they are attack, but because they block true perception from your sight. As you believe in attack, you cannot see love, because you believe love is attack. Love is not attack. Love is giving through spirit to spirit that which spirit requests. This giving is never given consciously, as consciousness is the domain of the ego. This giving is natural and outside of the domain of the ego, so that it is without any conscious involvement at all.

Love cannot stop, but love can be misperceived if you believe in attack. In order to see love’s reflection through true perception, you must be willing to let go of all perception of attack. Remember this:

When you believe you are attacking or have attacked, you are completely wrong. Give this misperception to Me, that you may see differently.

When you believe you are attacked, you are one hundred percent wrong. Give this misperception to Me, that you may see differently.

When you believe you see one attacking another, you are believing in attack yourself. Give this misperception to Me, that you may see differently.

Miracles are never under conscious control, because giving is never under conscious control. Spirit is not consciousness as the ego is. The ego, or the part of the mind that thinks it is separate, interprets all that is experienced by making up stories about that which is experienced. However, all of that is made up, and so it is the veil that hides true perception from your awareness.

When you do something, you may think, “I am doing this because of this or that.” Know that whatever you think after you think “because of” is not true. The only reason you do anything is because you are guided to do it by your thoughts, which come to you from your spirit. All that you do, you do because you are guided to do it. You can never do anything independent of guidance. This is why you are innocent.

Yet, I teach that you have a choice about what you will do and how you will feel, and this is also true. This is true because you get to request through spirit the experiences that shall be given you. You make this request through choosing which thoughts to believe or accept.

If you accept that you are attacking, being attacked or seeing attack, you will have the experience of attack, because you have requested it through your perception. What you ask for is given you, always.

If you see the temptation or the opportunity to perceive attack, but you choose to let that opportunity pass you by by refusing to accept the perception, you request the miracle.

The miracle is not really a miracle at all. It is only a truer way of perceiving, which is seeing that there is no attack, because there is only love.

Watch your mind for your perceptions. Ask yourself, “What do I truly want to experience right now?” As you answer this question, you make a conscious decision about how to see. The answer to your request is delivered through spirit, which is not conscious, but it is always exactly that which you honestly requested.

The ego is not trying to kill you

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Hello Friends,

I recently received a couple of emails from a friend who questioned an answer I heard from the Holy Spirit a week or so ago. That posting was called “The ego wants you dead,” and it is posted here .

Let me share some excerpts from my friend’s emails:

> For me, something came up as I read it. I understand that the ego cannot kill Christ (Me) and that makes me very happy. I understand that the ego wants to render me unknown to myself. But, in my experience, I do very much feel that the ego THINKS that it is capable of killing Him through me. At least it is trying to do this.

> When I honestly observe the stuff that comes up in me though the ego, I am very aware of the psycho killer feelings that I can have. I am perfectly capable of murder in given moments. That I seek to have these feelings/thoughts healed is my choice. But the facts as I know them are: the ego would just “love” for me to bludgeon my brother (Christ) to death. It has tried to limit the Son of God (by his own acceptance) to a body and can now try to kill Him through it.

> The ego WANTS to kill me. The ego is TRYING to kill me. Happily, it can’t because I am not a body, I am an idea. Ideas cannot be killed. They can only be accepted (celebrated) or denied. I don’t think the Course was inaccurate or unclear in saying, “The ego wants you dead.”

>Clarity!!!!! HS has just pointed out with great simplicity that this entire discussion is based upon one word you wrote: TRYING.

My friend suggested that, as the scribe, I may have added this word myself. I knew that was not the case. I was not attached to this question or this answer, and I know that I copied exactly as I heard. I decided to ask the Holy Spirit why it said, “The ego is not trying to kill you.” This is the response to that question:

Answer: The ego is nothing but a collection of thoughts, beliefs and concepts within the mind. They are thoughts you have chosen to believe. Your purpose for choosing these thoughts was not to kill your existence; therefore, that cannot be the purpose of the ego. The purpose of choosing these beliefs was to find happiness through independence. And then, you judged your desire to find happiness through independence, so you felt guilty, fearful, etc. My role is to lead you Home again, back to another choice, by teaching you that you are not guilty and there is nothing to fear. I must also help you to see that your first chioce has not led to your happiness, and since your only Will is happiness, you can unchoose the choice that you made, which has not made you happy.

The ego is not trying to kill you and that has never been its goal. The hatred that seems to kill within illusion is merely a defense mechanism that covers up your fear. The fear covers your guilt, and the guilt is a misperception. All of this must be undone. It is true that if it is denied, it must be brought out of denial and seen, but then it must be denied again. The second time it is denied, it is denied because it is false. This is the denial that heals, because this is the denial that points the mind back to truth and the opportunity to choose again.

You are the chooser. You are the mind that made the option called ego. In that way, the ego is not separate from you. But, it also isn’t you. It is a collection of thoughts within your mind that you gave purpose to. That purpose was to have an experience that was different from the experience of Heaven. That was to render your truth unknown and experience something different. You are having that experience now within the world. So, you can look at the world and decide if this is an experinence of happiness or not. If you see that it is not, you can begin the journey Home again by letting go of the thoughts, beliefs and concepts that you hold to within the mind.

That’s the end of the answer. What I got out of this is that by saying, “The ego is not trying to kill you,” the Holy Spirit is referring to an earlier point in the ego’s making. We all know that the ego tries to kill the Son of God within the experience of the world, but the Holy Spirit refers to that as a defense mechanism against fear. It is not the ego’s original purpose. The ego’s original purpose is trying to find a happiness greater than the happiness experienced in Heaven. As I sit and look at this, I am notcing that I see the ego as nothing but confusion, or “madness” as A Course in Miracles would say. It is clearly a “tiny, mad idea.”

With Love,

Regina

A single, quiet thought (11/17/06)

Friday, November 17th, 2006

Peace be with you,
for you are Peace.

Deny not your own Reality
by looking at shadows within dreams
believing they have more reality than you.
They have no reality without you,
for it is you that gives them what they be.

Peace be with you,
for you are Peace.

As you be that which you are,
without being distracted by that which you are not,
you shall experience your Self,
and you shall see
you are that which you have always been.

You are Peace.

A single, quiet thought (11/14/06)

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

When the Light is not desired, the Light does still shine, for the Light must shine as that is the essence of Light. Where the Light is welcomed, It is known. But where the Light is not welcomed, it is not known, for each one must see what he chooses to see.

The ones who do not wish to see the Light will see something else, and they will love what they see, even though they may believe that they hate it. This is the essence of confusion, thinking you want one thing when you want another. Know this:

What you want must be given you,
so you can know that what you see
is what you want.

If you see darkness in the world, it is darkness you have asked to see. If you witness the Light, but do not know the Light within yourself, this is the welcome you have given It. If the Light seems with you at times and absent in other times, your welcome is not yet consistent. And if you know Light in all that you see and experience, you have opened yourself to It and It has enveloped you.

~From the Holy Spirit’s interpretation of John, Chapter 2

The ego wants you dead

Thursday, November 9th, 2006

Question: Holy Spirit, A Course in Miracles says, “The ego wants you dead, but not itself.” (Text 15.I.3) What do you want to share about this thought?

Answer: You are the one beyond the ego, and you cannot be heard or known among the ego’s raucous chatter. In this way, you are dead to awareness, since your ongoing truth is unknown and hidden from you as long as you listen to the ego.

The ego is not trying to kill you, for you cannot be killed. The ego attempts to render you dead by rendering you unknown. It does this by making itself constantly known by you as you.

The ego is nothing that can be hated or struggled against. The ego is merely a collection of false ideas in the mind, which cover up and hide the true ideas that are beneath them. It is like a false building built on top of a true one or a mask upon a face. You are neither the false building nor the mask. You are that which is beneath, or beyond, the false covering.

The ego wants you dead in that it wants you to remain unknown, but you do not share the ego’s goal. You seek to remember your Self. To do this, you cannot participate in the ego’s plan to keep you hidden. You must choose to exercise your right to rest the thinking mind. Choose “I don’t know” and let Me speak. Cling to “I don’t know” as if it is your answer, because it is. As the artificial is put aside, realness rises into recognition. It is through this experience that you shall finally decide to take off the mask of falsity forever.

The last useless journey

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

“The journey that seemed endless is almost complete, for what is endless is very near. You have almost recognized it. Turn with me firmly away from all illusions now, and let nothing stand in the way of truth. We will take the last useless journey away from truth together, and then together we go straight to God, in joyous answer to His call for His completion.” (ACIM Text 16.IV.12)

Question: What is meant by this statement? “We will take the last useless journey away from truth together.”

Answer: In order to accept truth, you must look at untruth and deny it its reality. Any reality it seems to have comes from you, so you are the one that must deny its seeming reality by accepting it as wholly unreal.

“To lift the veil that seems so dark and heavy, it is only needful to value truth beyond all fantasy, and to be entirely unwilling to settle for illusion in place of truth.” (ACIM Text 16.IV.10)

“In the Name of God, be wholly willing to abandon all illusions.” (ACIM Text 16.IV.9.5)
